The Moon Residence is a custom-crafted home inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's philosophy of organic architecture. The twenty-two-year-old residence is built on land sloping into a wooded valley entered via a private cul-de-sac. The driveway leads into a courtyard formed by the house and its landscape. Its terrace visually extends through the foyer to another terrace at the rear of the house.Clerestory windows above eye level surround three sides of the house to provide light and privacy. Full height windows at the rear of the house capture views through the valley. Porcelain floor and wall tiles produced in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna, glass tiles crafted in Venice, and countertops quarried from Mount Etna are interior finishes. Millwork paneling and cabinetry are sourced from Amish craftsmen. When they built their home, the original owners planned to live only in its upper entry level with direct access to all utilities, laundry, two car garage, two terraces, and three lawns. The extensive lower level is unfinished but ready to provide future living needs. The foyer seats sixteen for large dinners and is directly adjacent to an open kitchen, dining and living area. Beyond, sliding walls and doors in the study, bath, and den allow this portion of the house to be reconfigured into two bedrooms with private bathrooms. The main bedroom includes a dressing area & bathroom. Full height storage closets and cabinets run the length of the house beneath clerestory windows.
